Personal development, health and physical education

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

Sports and physical activity

We encourage students to be part of an Active Healthy Lifestyle and offer a range of opportunities to participate in a range of sports.

Athletics Carnival

Usually held at Beaton Park, our Athletics Carnival runs very smoothly thanks to our large amount of Parent Helpers. It is a fantastic day where the whole school is able to compete in activities. The 5-7 year olds have a fun filled day focussing on fundamental movement skills to prepare them for future carnivals. The 8 year olds and up participate at a competition level in discus, shot put, long jump, running races, high jump and many others. The older students depending on their place are selected to go on to further competitions like district, regional and state competitions.

Cross Country

At a school level students participate in age running races down at Gibson Park. The older students depending on their place are selected to go on to further competitions like district, regional and state competitions.

Swimming Carnivals

The swimming carnival is for 8 year olds and upwards. They compete in a range of swimming races and depending on their place, also get to go to district, regional and state competitions.

Gala Days

Gala days provide an opportunity for students to participate in a selected sport for the day with students from our COS (Community of Schools) district. In the past we have had cricket gala days and they were a huge success. The students are able to build on their skills as they play a few games in the same day.

PSSA Sport

Students have the opportunity in years 3-6 to participate in PSSA. Students can pick from a range of sports to play including soccer, netball, tennis and many more. The students love these sport sessions and they look forward to them each week.
